July is always a milestone in Everyday-Wisdom's history as the website will be starting its 10th year . As we look back on our first month we had added 27 pages with 201 visitors to our website, viewing 476 pages. We were excited that we had been viewed in four countries as well. The site now has over 2,200 pages with visitors from most of the countries in the world. We want to thank all of our visitors for the growth we have had. We are enjoying building this website and look forward to supplying information that you can use and tell others about.

In June The Supreme court made historic rulings, regardless of how one feels about those rulings it is our concern that this will further divide our great country, We have created ethnic groups, culture groups, religious groups, generation groups gender groups each and every group has their rights and freedoms in this great country. Lets stop fighting and arguing about what we dislike about the other groups and pull together and just be Proud Americans People have fought and died to provide us with such freedoms.

We are always open for new ideas and comments from our readers,. Contacting us is easy! Just go to the home page and click on the contact us button.

Important days in July:

July 4th is our Independence Day…celebrating our freedom that we cherish here in America.

Fun Facts for America's birthday.

The first flag had thirteen stars and thirteen stripes to represent each state. Over the next several years, when 2 more states were added to the USA, they added additional stars and additional stripes. It didn't take them long to figure out if they kept adding stripes that it would look more like a quilt instead of a flag. They changed to just adding a new star to the field, keeping the thirteen stripes for the original colonies.

The picture of George Washington crossing the Delaware river in a small boat in iced filled water has been displayed using the wrong American flag. The artist used the newer flag with more stars on it than when the event occurred.

When new states were added to the Union, the flag was changed on the 4th of July. The 50-star flag has flown the longest of any flag. The 49-star flag flew the shortest period of time… just one year.

Most flags have their stars in rows. The 36-star flag was a series of two circles. The inner circle had thirteen stars representing the original colonies and 23 in the outer circle for the new states that had been added. The thought was that the outer circle would always be there to protect and unite with the original thirteen states.

The American flag is the only flag that is flown on the moon.

Our flag is recognized around the world and stands for our strength, our caring, a land of opportunity, a land of hope. We as Americans often take our flag and our country for granted. We have our problems but we do live in the greatest country in the world.

Our wisdom quote of the month...

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler. .~Henry David Thoreau

Some humor to start the month off right.

My husband, was attempting to build a patio for the first time. He bought 100 cement blocks. Laying them out in a pattern, he discovered the chosen area was too small.

He stacked the blocks against the house and cleared more space. The next day Ray put the cement blocks back down, only to find that the ground was too hard to keep the patio level.

He ordered a truckload of sand to be delivered the following morning. Again he stacked the 100 blocks against the house.

Observing all this, our next-door neighbor asked, "Ray, that seems like a lot of work to pick up and put you patio every night up every night?"
