Besides its golden beaches and impressive Paseo Maritimo, there is a wealth of history to offer the visitor. The beautiful marina where you have a spectacular view of the Santa Barbara Castle. Take the tour bus there are stops at all the popular tourist sites; Plaza del Mar, Luceros, Archaeological Museum, Central Market, Renfe Station, Maisonnave (the shopping area). Many people travel to Alicante, Spain for fun, others for business. No matter the reason, times have made it much easier to travel to this Spanish region. Thanks to an influx in tourism, there are many more services to get travelers around the Alicante area. Alicante is on the Mediterranean Sea in the southeast region of Spain. On one side there are sparkling beaches, on the other a stunning mountain range. It's no doubt this is an area that people flock to.

Getting to Alicante

The El Altet International Airport is only 6 miles (10 km) from the city center. No matter where in the world you are coming from, you should not experience too much of a struggle getting to the area since the airport has a number of inbound flights from the major airline carriers as well as Madrid, Ibiza and Barcelona.

Another traveling option to Alicante is by using a train, bus, or car hire service. While the region and the main city both are named Alicante, there are also a number of other nearby towns you may want to visit including Torrevieja, Denia, Benidorm, and Altea. These are easy to travel between on the tram and trenet, the services on the local rail system. There are also bus services that will take you out of Alicante and deliver you to many of the villages and towns nearby.

Another way to travel into Alicante is by ferry. There is a ferry from Algeria that will deliver you to Alicante. These services can be set up by going from Romeu to Oran or Algeria. While this is a unique way to travel, any problems in the political climate of Algeria can cause service disruptions.

While you may want have a car or taxi at your disposal, especially when you are traveling to or from the airport, once you get into the city you can generally walk to any location you desire, since it is a small area.

Staying in Alicante Spain

If you are looking for a place to stay in Alicante, you will not have a problem finding the accommodations that suit your needs. If you have business to accomplish as a part of your stay in the region, there are a number of high-rise hotels located right in the middle of the city that are situated directly in the center of the business district. When you are not busy working you should take a few moments out to enjoy the view from your room, which will give you a look at the sea or the mountains.

If you are in Alicante Spain to relax, consider a beachside resort. This is what many tourists clamor for when they head to the region. There are a number of offerings all along the beaches with fast and easy access to the sand and the surf. These beach resorts can be as luxurious as five-star resorts or just little relaxing bungalows, but are a great stay with easy access to the city.
