A LETTER TO A MOTHER
Hi Mom, I have good news,
I’m coming home real soon,
As I write this letter Mother,
I can see that beautiful moon.
This war is going crazy Mom,
I know it’s sad to say,
My friends are gone forever,
Their bodies are flying home today.
I have to tell you Mother,
The men get scared when there alone,
All they keep on thinking is,
Will they ever make it home.
I never wanted to leave you Mom,
I never thought it would last this long,
Leaving us here to fight a war,
That people say is wrong.
You can give my car to Linda,
To me, it was just a phase,
It’s hard to think about driving,
When you don’t have any legs.
So wait for me dear Mother,
My time is almost through,
Wipe away your tears and smile,
I’m coming home to you.
