My Obsession

My heart beats quickly when you walk by.
The rest of the world's a haze.
I feel like I've been struck by an arrow,
And placed in a scientific maze.

I think about you constantly,
For you consume my mind:
Asleep or awake,
In light or opaque,
I find.

I've seen you in your times of need,
And when your sky is blue.
I've heard you play your lone guitar,
And ride a storm or two.

Your name is engraved on my heart.
I cannot let you go.
But there you are,
Alone and far,
Confused at the crossroads.

© Aylin Katharine Yildirim

Dedicated to: A rodeo cowboy
