The Happy Young Bride

She looks at her reflection, her eyes open wide,
Was this day really here? Was she really the bride?
Standing before her mirror in a gown of white satin and lace,
A thin circle of silk roses holds her brown curls off her face.
Her veil falls like a mist to her folded finger tips,
Hiding her rosy blush and the nervous smile on her lips.
On her neck hangs a sapphire, on a thin silver chain,
And knelt down behind her, a bridesmaid fusses with her train.
Her mother stands beside her, her eyes shine with pride,
Her beautiful daughter- this happy young bride!
The bride hugs her mother and then turns to me,
Through the veil I can see her face shine with glee.
She looks up at me, with a smile does she say-
“Daddy don't cry, its time for you to give me away.
I love him Daddy, with all of my heart,
And after today we will never be apart.
I'll always love you Daddy, for all of my life,
But you know that I was meant to be his wife.”
I look into the bright eyes of this happy young bride,
Oh how do I tell her that her groom just died?
