The Midnight Snow

The moonlight told the hillside
Then woke the sleeping grass
And snowflakes danced by streetlamps
Flirting as the passed

The grumpy old road grumbled
As he watched himself turn white
And children tumbled from their beds
To see the frosty sight

Then came the season's music
From church bells singing clear
A song of winter's magic
Announcing, "Jack Frost" was here

And all through the sleepy village
From hill top to below
Came sounds ofjoy and laughter
To greet the Midnight Snow!
