Get It Done Today!
Too many people live in a life controlled by their own procrastination: For some people, procrastination is not just a word, it is a way of life. Many people are living in stress, dealing with poor family relationships, ill health, and financial despair, all of which can be credited to putting off their responsibilities.
How does a person understand whether the negative experiences that they are having in life is the result of procrastinating? What is it exactly? How do you recognize whether or not you have a problem with it?
When a person procrastinates, they are making a decision to delay doing something that they have to do until some undetermined future time.
They may decide to delay the task indefinitely or wait until the latest possible moment to begin the task, allowing them insufficent time to accomplish the task properly.
If you are a member of the procrastination club, then you more than likely have a big list of responsibilities that you have not gotten around to or at the very least have put aside to complete at the last minute, in which the situation is already out of control and the damage is already done. If procrastination is your problem, you will find yourself telling people that "I'll get to it later" or "I have too much to do now but I will try to get to it next week". You find that it is so much easier to give an excuse than to complete the task at hand.
Why do we ignore such responsibilities? Each person will have their own reasons why they choose to put aside getting things accomplished. For some people, the task that needs to be completed may appear to be too overwhelming and far too difficult to be able to take care of it.
Smoking is a good example. Smoking is a habit that destroys health and kills people every day. Yet every day people intend to quit, try to quit and promise themselves and others that they will quit but then find excuses to avoid doing what needs to be done to achieve their goal. But quitting smoking would be just too hard. Even though they desire to stop, and for health benefits should quit, they would rather put it off until the pack is empty or after just one more because..."I'm really stressed right now, if I have a cigarette I won't feel as stressed out. Tomorrow will be a better day to stop smoking."
Does any of this sound familiar to you? Take time to learn why you choose to procrastinate and deal with it to be in better control of your life. Most people are not faced with life threatening decisions that they keep putting off, such as smoking.
