Five Multi Tasking Tips For New Mothers

Becoming a mother you will definitely learn the art of multi tasking and puts a new perspective on the fact that there are only 24 hours in each day. Fortunately, you can utilize multi-tasking to maximize each minute that is not spent sleeping.

Keep in mind that there are certain things that you will need to put on the back burner in order to keep everything else in your life operating properly. However, this does not mean that you need to neglect yourself or the relationship that you have with your significant other. In fact, you will need to continue to take time for your relationship and yourself in order to feel more fully rounded as a person.

Multi Tasking Tips for New Mothers

1. Follow the Baby's Clues
Take advantage of your baby's downtime. When your baby is taking a nap, you can use this time to clean the house, exercise or catch up on your own downtime. If your child is awake, engage in playtime. Enjoy getting to know your baby. It is important to keep them within eyesight. They can be propped up on a best nursing pillow beside you. Take advantage of products available to make your life easier, such as baby monitors, baby seats or baby carriers.

2. Organize Yourself
Avoid the "mommy brain." Because you will be dealing with a long list of personal and work related appointments, you should definitely write everything down in a day planner. Consult your planner before you commit to anything. If you are not good at checking a book every day, you can use your smartphone's calendar to schedule alerts before each appointment.

3. Turn Emails into Story Time
Your child will not understand the difference between a storybook and your emails for the first couple of years, so you can read your emails and other necessary correspondence out loud in a soothing voice in order to keep your baby entertained while you work. As an added bonus, reading everything out loud will make it easier to catch typos. A very simple multi tasking idea that works.

4. Plan Your Errands
Getting out of the house with a baby can be difficult enough without needing to worry about doing it several times a week. Therefore, you should try to schedule your errands and appointments on the same day so that you can get everything done as efficiently as possible. Keep in mind that your baby will get bored or tired more easily than you, so it is a good idea to utilize the services of a babysitter when you have a lot to get done.

5. Set Priorities
Before your baby was born, you were probably more likely to agree to things that were not a top priority in your life. For example, you might belong to a club that is only vaguely interesting to you. Instead of continuing to honor a commitment that does not provide you with any positive benefits, you should remove it from your life to free up some time. Being a new mother can be daunting, but it is definitely possible to successfully juggle everything at once. As long as you remain focused and organized, and your baby is happy and healthy, you should feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of each day.
