Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease in which your blood glucose, or sugar, levels are too high. Glucose comes from the foods you eat. How does a diabetic keep their glucose levels right? One way is by taking Insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. Taking Insulin becomes a part of the regimen diabetics have to go through to keep their glucose levels right.

This disease affects so many people. There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.
