Poetry

Poems and poetry have been with mankind since we could express our words and many are even thought to pre-date written words. They were used to pass stories about the history of wars, politics, religion, and other various subjects, and were composed in the form of poetry to help with memorization and the power to pass this information along to others.
These works come in the form of very simple nursery rhymes that help children learn vocabulary and develop counting skills, to the advanced literary art works such as The Epic of King Gesar, which contains over twenty million words and more than a million verses. The oldest surviving poem is believed to be the Epic of Gilgamesh from 300 BC and was written on a clay tablet.
Since poems have been and will continue to be used to teach us and entertain us throughout our lives, we have added this section on "Poems" to open the doors for those that possess the talent to create and write poetry by giving give them an opportunity to share their work with others who enjoy reading it.
