Simple Tips That Will Keep Your Eyes Healthy

Keeping your eyes healthy.
In our five senses, the sense of sight is probably the most important one. Eyes help us to experience the world around us and neglecting its health can literally change how good we see. Eyes help us to perform most of our daily activities. To be honest, it's actually difficult to find a chore that doesn't require them. So now we know how important our eyes are, let's see what we can do to take care of our eyes. Just by following few simple tips you can reduce the chances of suffering from many vision related disorders and ailments.

Hydrate Your Eyes:
Because of the continuous rotation of eyeballs, eyes need to be constantly lubricated. Dry eyes cause irritation and strain. To keep your eyes hydrated you should drink lots of fluid all throughout the day. You can also use saline solutions or artificial tear drops to keep the hydration level up.

Super Veggies:
It’s a known fact that leafy green vegetables like spinach and Brussels sprouts are great for eyes. These veggies contain antioxidants called lutein and zeaxanthin, which have a range of benefits right from protecting the eyes from harmful UV rays to slowing down macular degeneration. Some studies even suggest that having them regularly can reduce the chances of getting cataract.

Protect Your Eyes With Sunglasses:
When it comes to protecting your eyes from the harmful rays of the sun, sunglasses are more than just a style statement. Harmful ray such as the UV ray can speed up macular degeneration and can increase the risk of developing cataract. You can protect your eyes just by wearing a pair of dark sunglasses. Wearing sunglasses can also protect you from developing crow's feet, a condition caused by excessive squinting.

Give Your Eyes A Break:
Staring at a computer screen can cause lot of stress to your eyes. This is mainly because the eyes are constantly focused on the screen and can lead headaches and vision disorders. To be on the safer side take occasional breaks when working on computer. Take a break every 20 minutes and let your eyes focus on the something other than the computer screen. Try focusing on an object 20 feet away for just 20 seconds. This exercise will keep your eyes fresh and strain free all throughout a long working hour. Super Fruits: Apart from some vegetables, some fruits can also improve the overall health of your eyes. Beta-carotene commonly found in carrots, apricots and persimmon are known to be great for eyes. Some other fruits such as blueberries can reduce eye fatigue. Avacados are known to be the most lutein rich fruits available. So next time you go to the market be sure to include these in your shopping list.

Have Fish Oil:
Fish oil is a rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids. These special fats are commonly found in sardines, tunas and cods and are great for keeping the eyes hydrated and improving overall health of eyes.

Magic Cucumber Slices Help Keep Your Eyes Healthy:
Covering your eyes with thinly sliced cucumber can freshen up your eyes. Applying cucumber slices once daily can keep your eyes fresh and ready for next day's challenge.

Get Your Eyes Checked Regularly:
It's very important to get your eyes checked by a doctor regularly. This will help you to detect potential risks and disorders before they turn into something serious.

Essential Nutrients:
We cannot stress enough the importance of having food rich in lutein and zeaxanthin. They are found in eggs and vegetables such as broccoli and kale. You can also get the daily requirement by having lutein and zeaxanthin supplements available in the market. Also, make sure you have fruits rich in beta-carotene to keep your eyes healthy.
